Felicitas is the founder and project leader. PICTOMED has grown out of her personal experiences, commitments and endeavours since medical school. Thanks to her fascination of interpretation and her linguistic and cultural interests, she feels very concerned about health equity and the link between access to healthcare services and social integration of migrants and refugees.

Setareh is a US medical doctor with Iranian origins and her aim is to specialise in gynaecology and move to Switzerland. She is supporting PICTOMED since 2023 by conducting a major research project “The Medical Language Proficiency”-Score, a tool that will allow healthcare providers to correctly assess the need for language assistance when encountering patients with migration background.

Sara ​has already drawn more than 150 digital pictures on the basis of sketches, and thereby she has helped since 2017 to create universally understood images and to visually turn our ideas into reality.​

Pia joined the pictogenius’ team in 2022 as illustrator. She’s an Australian designer and works as a nomadic freelancer. As a keen globetrotter she comes in touch with various cultures and her dedication to make this world more equitable is inspiring. Pia’s professionalism, infectious enthusiasm and invaluable experiences are key to her brilliant creativity.

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATION

Herself an excellent artist and illustrator, Medina passionately teaches art to children, refugees and others. As cultural ambassador for Bosnia-Herzegovina she’s often on the move, travelling around Europe, well connected and involved in various projects of her own… it’s a stroke of luck that Medina agreed to join us and take the position of marketing and communication in 2023, giving a new impetus to our projects.
PSYCHOLOGIST
RESEARCH

Sonja supported our academic publications on migrant-related language barriers in healthcare from 2020 to 2023. She was responsible for conducting scientific studies and evaluations. Through our research projects, we hope to raise awareness for language barriers among medical doctors.

Pictocoder
IT-SPECIALIST
​
Warren volunteered in developing the interactive website-app from 2021 to 2024. He brought our medical illustrations to life in a communication tool, quick and easy to use, with the aim to guarantee maximal usability and effectiveness. He was in charge of everything informatics being our head programer and webmaster.
